Can I drink herbal tea while on statins?
Herbal tea and statins
For most people, yes. These are common food spices, but tell your doctor and keep your usual lipid tests.
01 The main concern with statins
The well-known food interaction with statins is grapefruit, which affects how some statins are broken down. None of the herbs in Cholesterol Balance are known for that effect, and all of them are eaten freely in Indian cooking.
02 Ginger and blood thinning
Ginger in larger amounts can have a mild blood-thinning effect. If you also take aspirin, clopidogrel or warfarin, mention the tea to your doctor.
03 Keep your tests
A lipid profile is the only way to know what is working. A tea is a habit, not a treatment, and it does not replace your medicine or your check-ups.
