Cinnamon, fenugreek and the after-meal cup
Before anyone sold a herbal tea for anything, Indian homes already had an after-meal routine. A few saunf seeds. A glass of methi water in the morning. Dalchini dropped into milk or chai. We did not invent these; we blended them.
01 Dalchini, the bark that tastes sweet
Cinnamon is the inner bark of a tree, dried until it curls. It is naturally sweet without a trace of sugar, which is why it sits at the centre of both our blends. In a hot infusion it does the job sugar would otherwise do, so you do not miss it.
02 Methi, soaked overnight
Fenugreek seeds are one of the most common home remedies in India: soaked in water overnight and drunk in the morning. They are bitter, nutty and rich in soluble fibre. We roast them lightly before blending, which tames the bitterness and brings out the nuttiness.
03 Saunf, after every meal
The bowl of fennel seeds by the restaurant door is the most familiar after-meal ritual in the country. Fennel is sweet, cooling and gentle, and it is what makes the Cholesterol Balance cup soft enough to drink nightly.
04 From habit to blend
Each Vanmool blend takes one of these old routines and makes it a single, five-minute step. The herbs are whole or cut so you can see them, the proportions are fixed so every cup tastes the same, and nothing is added that your grandmother would not recognise.
Herbs in this piece: Cinnamon, Fenugreek Seed, Fennel Seed
